Mini Drugstore Haul

I walked by Harmon Face Values the other day and couldn't resist picking up a few things. Harmon is a subsidiary of Bed Bath & Beyond with stores in NJ, NY, CT, FL, and PA. I like to buy toiletry items and cosmetics from there because it is far cheaper than any drugstore in the NYC area. You can also use manufacturer coupons plus 20% off Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons on your purchases. I picked up five lip products and a mascara.

Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick ($5.99)
This is a new collection of lip colors featuring 12 shades chosen to compliment your skin tone while providing a hydrating, buttery formula. The shades offer a berry, nude, pink, and red organized by three skin tone groups of light, light-medium, and medium. They seem more like tinted lip balms than lipsticks and are very hydrating. You can also pick a shade from the medium group even if you have a light complexion.

I bought red medium and berry light-medium despite having a lighter skin tone. I was tempted to purchase a few more shades but wanted to see how these two colors looked and felt on my lips first.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color ($5.49)
Product description
This creamy matte lip color delivers a burst of bold lip color and a surge of creamy texture in make a statement shades, for mattes your lips will love to wear!
I have never liked Maybelline lipsticks even if the formula was really good because I couldn't get over the smell. However, I'd heard so much hype over these I decided to take a risk. The scent isn't horrible and the good news is that I find the smell bearable enough to use!

There are 10 shades in the line and some of them are supposedly dupes for MAC lipsticks. I chose 655 Daringly Nude and 690 Siren in Scarlet (blue toned red). I would have selected 660 Touch of Spice but it was sold out in the store. These seem moisturizing for a matte lipstick and don't settle into lip lines.

Milani Color Statement Lipliner (on clearance for $1.99)
I'm assuming this lip liner is being discontinued since it had the yellow clearance sticker. I chose 09 Spice. This is the first lip liner I've purchased so I'm looking forward to using it in the future. Now that I'm wearing darker shades I will have more use for lip liners.

Cover Girl Lipperfection Jumbo Gloss Balm ($5.69-8.99)
I did not purchase this but I thought I'd include it in the haul. It was sent to me by P&G with some of their other products. I have the shade 210 Blush Twist and wouldn't have chosen it for myself. I can see the color swatched on my hand but it does not show up on my lips. I'm slightly curious about the darker colors but not curious enough to purchase these on my own.

Physician's Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Curl & Care Mascara ($7.59)
Product claims
Curl & volumize. Condition & Nourish. Hypoallergenic. Fragrance free, gluten free. 100% free of parabens, GMO's, synthetic preservatives, harsh chemicals, synthetic colors.
Physician's Formula is one of the most expensive brands at the drugstore but they have an organic line. I'll be honest, I don't really wear mascara that often for several reasons. I have sensitive eyes, no matter how much I curl my lashes they just stick straight out, and most mascara ends up in my under eye area after a few hours. I'm hoping this lives up to their claims on the back of the packaging!

I hope everyone had a good weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
