Memebox I'm Lip Crayon Lovely Lips Set Review

When I first noticed Memebox had introduced their own brand of makeup I was a bit skeptical to the idea. After all, the main appeal for me were the boxes and the surprise element of the contents of what was inside. However I read some good reviews about their lip and eye products and was instantly intrigued. I decided to go for a set of lip crayons and eye liners which were on sale.

Cost
You can purchase each individual lip crayon for $7 or buy them in a set like I did for $32 with a savings of $10.

There are 6 shades to choose from:
#01 Giselle: Nude-y pink shade glides smoothly onto the lips for a naturally gorgeous pop of color and hydration
#02 Matilda: Never too overwhelming, bright, or bold, this very wearable salmon-pink shade has a semi-opaque color coverage that flatters all skin tones.
#03 Mary Jane: Rosy pink shade has subtle warm undertones and a luminous sheen, making it the perfect go-to lipstick for everyday use.
#04 Juliet: A color as bold as it is beautiful, this refreshing punch of hot pink will drench lips in a luscious pink color.
#05 Chloe: A color so vivid and brilliant, this fiery red shade adds attitude and edge to any look.
#06 Bella: Deep magenta red color is deep and moody-and the effect against all skin tones is striking.

My Thoughts
If you look at the colors I swatched above, the first 3 colors look quite similar on my hand and lean towards the orange side on me as opposed to the swatches Memebox posted on their site. I also found that the first 2 colors didn't really show up on my lips. 3 was a little more pigmented but I could have done without it. However, crayons 4, 5, and 6 did not disappoint in terms of pigmentation. In fact I love 5 and 6!
Now let's talk about the formula. Warning, these crayons will transfer so beware when kissing your partner or babies. It gets a little better once the color sets into the lips. There is a glossy shine and a waxy feel to these. I did a little experimentation to test how moisturizing the crayons were. While these feel moisturizing on the lips in the beginning they seemed to dry them out after an hour or so. I would say you could get 2-4 hours of wear on these depending on if you do or don't drink and eat. Also, it started to settle into my lip lines towards the end and emphasize any flaking. I put a lip balm on top which solved the problem but I'd rather not deal with dryness in the first place. The next time I applied the crayon I made sure to exfoliate and take care of my lips and the dryness and flaking was much better. All in all there is some moisture provided in these lip crayons but they're not the most moisturizing I've ever tried. There is no scent or taste to the crayons, yay!

Final Thoughts
I'm not doing my usual thumbs up or down because it was too hard to give the lip crayons a definitive result. If I had to give these a rating, I would say 5.5/10. Keep in mind I'm rating these as a set, not individually. There isn't too much of a range in colors in the line, not too mention the first 3 shades don't really show any color on my lips. I would absolutely recommend buying colors #05 Chloe and #06 Bella; they are gorgeous colors! Strangely enough, the formula on these two colors seemed to provide more moisture and applied smoothly on the lips. Even if you don't purchase the lip crayons in a set, they are still a very good deal. $7 is cheaper than most drugstore lip products these days so I'm happy with the pricing.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer
