Winter 2015 Skin Care Routine AM

I thought I'd share my morning skin care regimen with all of you today. These have been my staples when I'm not testing out a new product. It may seem like an overload of products but Korean women have been following a 10-12 step routine for many years. I'll use a face wash, toner (sometimes called skin by Koreans), an essence, eye cream, essence water, serum, and moisturizer. If my skin is "acting up" I incorporate a spot treatment. Currently I have oily skin in the T-zone area and dry patches on my cheeks along with acne prone skin. I might be drier than usual on the cheeks because of the benzoyl peroxide/salicylic acid I apply there.

1. Michael Todd Skin Defender AHA Creme Facial Cleanser (7.1 oz $22)
Product description
Skin Defender cleans gently yet thoroughly then rinses without residue leaving skin feeling clean, soft and smooth. Blended with alpha hydroxy acid to improve the appearance of fine lines, blotches and discoloration and organic green tea and citrus extracts of lemons and oranges help to fight environmental stressors. Skin is more even toned, vibrant, and radiant looking.

I was looking for a more natural skin care line and found Michael Todd. They're not 100% organic but their products don't contain paraben, sulfates, mineral oils, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, or artificial color. This is a very gentle cleanser with a pleasant, light scent. I'm not sure if it's improved any fine lines or discoloration on my face but it's great for winter.

2. June Jacobs Green Tea and Cucumber Toner (6.7 for $40)
Product description
This paraben and preservative free toner is formulated with natural astringents, cucumber, and goldenseal extracts to remove residue and maintain skin's natural pH. Powerful patent pending anti-oxidant blend of white, red and green tea extracts combined with goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed extracts help to neutralize free radicals, protect skin from environmental toxins and combat visible signs of premature aging. This toner soothes the skin leaving it calm and refreshed.

I received the toner from a SkinStore giveaway. I've incorporated it into my routine because it doesn't contain any alcohol. It does a good job of cleaning any last traces of makeup left behind and doesn't irritate my skin.

3. Rooibos Aqua Sprinkler Gel Cream (150 ml $28)
Product description
Brightens, provides anti-wrinkling benefits, and revitalizes exhausted and dull skin. This cream diffuses rooibos, rasberry, and pomegranate extracts to the skin in order to fight signs of stress, while carbonated water detoxifies the skin and supports cell respiration. The gel cream formula absorbs quickly, leaving skin perfectly balanced.

There are multiple uses for this gel cream: toner, overnight sleeping mask, or makeup fixer. I use this like an essence and it provides light moisture to the skin before I apply eye cream.

4. Own Renewing Lifting Eye Cream (discontinued)
I have a 0.5 oz sample of this from an Ulta order I made. The brand uses natural ingredients gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. It looks like this particular eye cream has been discontinued but there is a reviving eye cream in the renew line currently. I like this eye cream and a little goes a long way. It provides enough moisture without leaving the eye area greasy.

5. Recipe By Nature Spray Essence Water (140 ml $35)
Product description
Spray Essence Water is enriched with celtic water and whistler glacial mineral water; the main ingredients with nourishing vitamins, amino acids, and organic acids used to enhance the skin. This essence will hydrate and nourish your skin instantly after application!

I received this in a Memebox Recipe by Nature Ultimate Brightening Set. I love how refreshing this smells, a light citrus herbal scent. You have to shake the water essence before you spray to distribute the oils evenly throughout the product. It contains 5 essential oils and 13 natural ingredients. I find myself using this periodically during the day if I feel like my skin needs a little moisture. I also appreciate the packaging which is made out of plastic and sturdy. I can see how much of the spray I've used. As you can see I'm almost finished with this and will have to look into a replacement. This used to be sold in the Memeshop for $11 but is no longer available. I haven't been able to find where to get a hold of this online so I may have to ask my cousin in Korea.

The last two products are in my January Favorites post. If you want to read more about them, just click on the link above.

6. D'ran Aqua Wonder Intensive Renewing Serum
7. Grinif Rawganic Jojoba Golden Oil

As always, thanks for stopping by!
