First Impressions
As soon as I opened up the packaging, the window fell out and I had to tape it back in.
Wasn't happy with the shades I was sent and would have preferred something like soft taupe or cocoa mauve. I prefer natural eye looks over bold colors or a smoky eye.
The top 3 shadows are quite shimmery and the black shadow seems to have a little less shimmer.
Again this is a preference but I wish there were 2 matte colors instead of all shimmer.
My Thoughts
Since this had a built-in primer I skipped out on using a primer. For the record I always, always use primer before any eye makeup because everything slides to my under eye area. And I end up looking like a raccoon, no joke! I knew if these shadows could stay put on my eyes, Neutrogena had really come through with their claims of 12 hours of rich, nourishing color. Although the shadows contain shimmer there wasn't too much fall out. Just remember to tap out any excess shadow on your brush before your apply to the eyes. While I wasn't enthusiastic about the shades, I admit these shadows are rich, creamy, and very pigmented. I followed the application instructions on the back of the packaging which is helpful to have if you're not as experienced with makeup. I experienced a little smudging towards the end of the day by the 9th hour or so, but this is miraculous considering how oily my lids are. AND I worked out with a 5 mile run with the eye shadow and it held up quite well! (I probably got some crazy looks wearing a smoky eye look at the gym)
I love the Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow and will most likely purchase soft taupe and cocoa mauve when there's a sale or promotion at the drugstore. Don't forget to use coupons in addition to the sale price! I'm happy to have found drugstore eye shadows which are formulated well and live up to their claims. I don't mind that the packaging fell apart since the actual product was so good. Have any of you tried these and what are your thoughts?
Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer
