My Thoughts
I'm not sure if Milani intends to add more shades to the rose powder blushes but these will be part of the permanent collection. Apparently, Romantic Rose was part of the Spring 2013 limited edition collection. Tea Rose and Coral Cove were part of the Summer 2014 collection.
The packaging is sleek and simple and I love the pretty rose pattern on the blush. There is no particular fragrance but I can smell something if I put my nose right next to the blush. It's a peculiar scent so I won't be doing that again!
I really like the color on my cheeks; it's a natural, healthy, warm, matte color. The pigmentation is great and I have to make sure not to be heavy-handed with my brush. I think it would be very easy to build up the pigmentation for darker skin tones as well. Since this is a powder blush, it might be a bit chalky for those of you who usually prefer a cream blush. I don't mind as my skin has not been particularly dry this winter. Surprisingly, I was able to get about 9 hours of wear time on the blush.
Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick in 64 Matte Orchid ($5.99)
Product Description
Meet you matte. Your fantasy matte. The matte that not only feels great (yes, you read that right - it's actually comfy) but also lasts for hours. Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, this smear-proof lip soother delivers mega color that won't budge, even after a close encounter with a cappuccino cup.
Available in 8 shades:
60 Matte Innocence (pinky nude)
61 Matte Naked (medium nude)
62 Matte Blissful (girly blush pink)
63 Matte Diva (poppy hot pink)
64 Matte Orchid (super flattering fuchsia)
65 Matte Glam (yummy grape italian ice purple)
66 Matte Passion (fiery sunset orange red)
67 Matte Confident (bold brick red)
Again, the packaging on the lipstick is beautiful with the gold case. It looks expensive and sophisticated. You can also see exactly which shade you're purchasing since the bottom of the packaging is clear. These lipsticks are vegan. I'm not too crazy about the sweet scent, something like a chocolate vanilla dessert. It's not unbearable to me, like the Maybelline lipsticks, but I wish it had a fruity scent or none at all. I've heard other Miani lipsticks have a watermelon scent which I'd be all over in a second but I know some dislike that smell. When I first saw the lipstick I was a little scared by the brightness. However the more I wear it the shade seems to grow on me. It would be a great spring/summer color. The formula is nice and doesn't dry out my lips which matte lipsticks often do towards the end of wear. It's quite creamy and leaves a true matte finish. After the color sets, there isn't much of a transfer and I got about 5 hours of wear time!
Final Thoughts
These 2 products have left me curious about other blushes and lipsticks within the brand. I'd always heard really good things about the baked blushes and original color statement lipsticks. Of the 2 products, I'd absolutely purchase the Moisture Matte lipsticks without hesitation in the future. I'd be interested in Matte Naked and Confident. Plus you can't beat the price, at $5.99 these lipsticks are a great deal! I hope Milani adds more shades to the Rose Powder blushes. I'd pass on Coral Cove but Tea Rose looks really beautiful. The blushes would make a good addition to any makeup collection and the color and pigmentation would flatter anyone.
For those of you on the east coast stay warm! And as always, thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
