Clio Kill Cover Realest Wear Moist Foundation SPF 35 PA++ Review

A few weeks ago I had a chance to stop by the new Club Clio store in Union Square. I had been eyeing the Kill Cover foundations for quite some time. There is also a Kill Cover Highest Wear Foundation but I decided to go for the moist foundation. Here's my previous post about what I picked up at the store.
Product Description (1oz $40)
High application and moisturizing sherbet texture. Cover blemishes naturally. Even re-application gives a natural, clear, and glowing skin. Air light film system gives a surprising thin application. Fresh and moisturizing water in a smooth gel system. Rich moisture and bright skin tone for long hours.
Available in 3 shades:
2 BP Lingerie
3 BY Linen
4 BP Ginger

My Thoughts
A sales associate and I swatched Lingerie and Linen on my hands to see which would work best for my skin tone. They were quite similar except Lingerie leaned toward the pink-y side and Linen had more yellow undertones. In hindsight I should have purchased both shades to mix my perfect match and would have been able to use Linen in the summer. Instead I purchased Lingerie which is a bit too light for me even in the winter so I won't be able to get away with it when my face turns a little darker.

The packaging looks expensive and reminds me of MAC packaging. It's a nice glass bottle with a pump. If you're spending $40 on a foundation it better have a pump! I really like the scent, a very light fragrance which reminds me of apricots.

Let's get into what I think of the formula. The coverage is quite good on this foundation. I'd say medium to full where you can easily build up to full coverage without looking cakey. Initially I loved how the foundation looked on my skin when first applied. It looked healthy, moisturized, and glowing without feeling heavy. The consistency of the foundation is thicker than I thought it would be but it's not runny or particularly thick. I tried applying it with a damp Real Technique Beauty Blender and my favorite Real Technique Expert Face Brush. I got the best results with the face brush. A few hours of wear time later, I definitely needed to blot my face or apply some powder around the t-zone area. By the end of the day my face was an oily mess and the foundation would settle into pores around my nose with visible patchiness.

Final Thoughts
5.5/10
I'm conflicted about giving a thumbs up or down review on this product. I REALLY wanted to like this foundation since I've seen and heard several Korean beauty bloggers rave about the formula. For reference I have combination skin in the winter and oily skin in the summer. I shudder to think what my face would look like if I used this in the summer. This foundation would be perfect for those with dry skin. Some of you are probably thinking why did I buy a "moist foundation" but I thought this would give a dewy finish rather than looking oily. I did really love how this looked on my face for the first few hours but it just did not look good once my t-zone area became oily. I don't have the patience to blot or powder my face every hour. I will not purchase this again but I may consider the Highest Wear foundation to see if it's a better match for my skin.

Pros: perfect for those with dry/normal skin
has a wonderful, light, apricot scent
packaging looks expensive and has a pump
can leave a beautiful dewy finish if you have dry skin
good coverage

Cons: expensive at $40
will require constant blotting if you have combination/oily skin
only 3 shades, can be difficult to find a match

or you can purchase at Tester Korea or Club Clio.

    1. I have the other Kill Cover foundation as well but haven't had a chance to review it yet. I tried the moist foundation in the winter when my skin is less oily and has some dry patches but it still didn't work for me. Thanks for reading the post!

    1. I did try the Kill Cover Highest Wear Foundation. The coverage is medium to full as well and works much better for combo-oily skin types. It's not one of my favorite foundations so I put it into a empty cushion compact and prefer to use it that way. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!
