Bare Minerals Prime Time Brightening Foundation Primer Review

I am a huge fan of bareMineral's original mineral foundation. It works really well for my oily skin in the summer and the mineral veil is a great setting powder for all skin types. I decided to try out the Brightening Primer to see if it worked well with my skin and makeup.

Product Description (1oz $24)
A breakthrough primer that adds an extraordinarily luminous, healthy-looking glow to your skin while smoothing out your complexion. It's great for combating dry patches, fine lines, excess oil and minimizing large pores. Infused with 100% pure bareMinerals, nourishing vitamins and antioxidants, it instantly brightens your complexion and extends the wear of your bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation. Formulated without preservatives, it glides on with no tacky feel and it suitable for all skin types. Shake well before use and apply an even layer all over your face.

Ingredients
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Tocopherol, Silica, Magnesium Silicate, Calcium Pantothenate, Ascorbic Acid, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Powder.

My Thoughts
There is not much of a scent to the primer which is a good thing. You really do have to make sure and shake the bottle before you pump out the product. It's hard to control the amount of product with the pump since it has a tendency to spurt out of the nozzle uncontrollably. I end up unscrewing the pump and pouring the product on to my hand. What's the point of a pump if it doesn't function properly?
I do think this primer has the best results with bareMineral's original foundation. However I tend to wear other foundations in the winter so my review of the primer is with those foundations. The consistency of this is partially runny and there are shimmery specks in the primer. Fortunately, the shimmer does not appear on facial skin but I suppose this is what helps with the brightness and healthy glow to the face. The primer is a golden shade but doesn't add color to the skin. Once applied, it makes the skin feel soft and smooth. This does minimize pores and I noticed a visible improvement around my nose area. I didn't see any brightening, improvement in fine lines, or a difference in excess oil after application. To me this wasn't any different from other primers in terms of makeup longevity.

Final Thoughts
This is a mid-range priced primer but a little more than I'm willing to pay for what it does. I won't repurchase this in the future. It's not a terrible product but there are plenty of other primers out there I'd like to try.

Pros: good ingredient list with no parabens or sulfates

works well with the brand's original foundation
does minimize pores/smoothes skin

Cons: price
did not brighten my face, minimize fine lines, or combat excess oil
the pump-is it too much to ask for one that functions properly?
the price

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
