So last week Memebox finally put up some mystery boxes, the Easter Mystery Box and the Berrylicious Box. I went with the Easter theme box anticipating a pastel theme with some cute egg shaped products.
The box came with 5 products. I wasn't expecting so many bath and body products but it turned out to be a good thing. I have an overflow of skincare products currently and the body products save me a trip to the store. Time is money.
The box arrived so fast that I received my tracking number after it arrived. It took less than 48 hours from the time I ordered the box to when I received it originating, all the way from San Francisco. Now that's what I call a speedy delivery!
Easter Mystery Box Description
The perfect Easter hunt items for beauty extraordinaires! Get ready to pamper yourself with hand-picked spring items for the perfect weekend. Kick back and relax, we have all the goodies you need in one box.
It's Skin Mangowhite Body Mist 150ml ($12.50)
Formulated with mango extract, grapefruit oil, olive, aloe, and orange extract, this body mist will surely get you in the mood for spring! Natural ingredients in the mist will moisturize and nourish your skin to the fullest.
It's Skin was created by Korean dermatologists who researched and analyzed customers' skin troubles and solved skin problems based on various clinical experiences to achieve ideal skin.
I don't typically use body mists because I associate them with Bath & Body Works and my roommate from freshman year in college. She would douse herself in their fragrance mists and the whole room would smell for hours while giving me a headache and making me nauseous. I was thinking about giving this away but I actually like the scent. If sprayed lightly, it's refreshing with a pleasant fruity scent. I'll store this in the refrigerator and spritz it on during the summer.
Skinfood Grapefruit Refreshing Body Wash 320ml ($16.10)
A refreshing body wash that contains grapefruit extract from Israel that invigorates your senses and washes away skin impurities.
Skinfood's motto is "food that is good for your health is also good for your skin." They emphasize the importance of "feeding" the skin with the same food we rely on for healthy bodies.
Everyone could always use a body wash and I can always pass it off to my husband if it's not too fruity. He goes through the stuff like it's water. $16.10 seems a little steep for body wash, maybe it's the grapefruit extract all the way from Israel?
Skinfood Soda Fizzer (Black Sugar) 63g ($8)
This bath tablet contains mineral rich black sugar to moisturize dry skin. Unwind after a long day and let the soda fizzer melt all your stress!
I have a facial scrub from The Face Shop that contains black sugar and I really like it. I'm not sure how much black sugar is in this bath tablet but it contains benefits for the skin. It moisturizes, tightens and lifts the skin, brightens, and exfoliates dead skin. With that said, I'm not a bath person and can't think of the last time I took one. It will either be passed on to someone or go in a giveaway pile.
Tonymoly Egg Pore Shiny Skin Soap 50g x 2 ($14)
Luxurious handmade egg soap that reduces the size of pores and removes dirt and impurities.
I love the packaging with the egg carton and the soaps give off a spa-like scent. I'm sort of drowning in face soaps and washes right now but I like the sound of reducing pores and removing impurities. It seems like it would go well for my oily/combination skin during the summer.
Skin79 Olive Mask 75ml ($17)
A night time sleeping mask that delivers smooth skin. Olive leaf and honey extract indulge skin with rich nutrients to keep it healthy and prevent dryness. Natural oils such as avocado and baobab seed oil form a protective moisture retaining layer that helps to strengthen the skin barrier. Great for all skin types, especially those with dry skin.
I've only tried one product from Skin79 and it was their BB cream. Apparently they were the first original brand to bring BB creams into the cosmetics market in 2006. All Skin79 products come from organic plant-based ingredients and are truly natural skin care products. Long-term use will not cause any problems on the skin and can also play a protective role against acne and skin problems. Its whitening and anti-wrinkle functions are particularly outstanding.
Even though the product description claims this is for all skin types, I'm almost positive this will be too heavy for my skin as we head into summer. This would have been great to use in the winter and I'll save it for later in the year. I like the ingredient list with avocado, honey, and olive leaf so this is something I look forward to trying.
Final Thoughts
This box sold for $39 and is no longer available, sorry! The actual value of the box was $67.60 so it's clearly not as much of a bargain in comparison to the old Memebox days before they halted international shipping. (The main advantage U.S. customers now experience is the lightening fast delivery of orders). I was able to use a 15% coupon code and a few points so I'm content with the purchase. The only product I will not use is the Skinfood Soda Fizzer but overall, I'm pleased with the contents of the box despite the lack of skincare items.
