Time out: Mini Rimmel Haul

At Duane Reade and Walgreen's this week, all Rimmel cosmetics are 50% off. Initially my husband bought the Stay Matte powder and a lipstick in shade 104 for me. After I tried the lipstick, I had this overwhelming urge to purchase more. I returned the next day to purchase four more shades. It's an addiction, help!

Rimmel and Kate Moss
In September 2001 Rimmel signed an exclusive global contract with supermodel Kate Moss for the first time in its history. (Rimmel was established in 1834) She is the epitome of Rimmel's experimental, no-set rules beauty philosophy with her individual style and quirky glamour. The instinctive understanding between Kate Moss and Rimmel has evolved into one of beauty's most potent partnerships with the supermodel's own hip, fashion forward image complementing Rimmel's cutting-edge cosmetics vision to create the definitive cool, streetwise London look.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss

Price
The cost of these lipsticks really vary depending on where you buy them and your location. Of course, living in NYC, most items tend to be more expensive than in most other cities. At my local Duane Reade these were priced at $6.48 but I got each of them for $3.24 with 50% off. You can purchase them at Ulta for $5.49 and wait for a sale. Shade 01 on Amazon is only $2.89 for some reason and the other shades are much more expensive. Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick, 001

First impressions
I'm really late in joining the bandwagon for these lipsticks and I have no idea why! I have 01 (Hollywood red and Kate's signature lipstick), 05 (strawberry pink), 08 (dark pink nude), 17 (peach pink), and 104 (pinky mauve). I've heard some of the shades in the line are dupes for MAC lipsticks.
From left to right: 01, 05, 08, 17, and 104
These scent of these lipsticks is very light and fruity and tastes like watermelon. I love the packaging and the ones in the black packaging have more of a creamy finish than the ones in red. These are supposed to be matte but aren't completely matte which is fine with me. They're extremely pigmented and one swipe provides plenty of color. If you have any dry patches on your lips, it would be best to exfoliate beforehand. Since the lipsticks are on the matte side it will accentuate any lines or patchiness. Otherwise the formula is quite creamy although I did find myself applying a lip balm every few hours. I didn't get 8 hours of wear out of these, more like 5-6.

Price
$5.99 for me and again 50% off. It's priced cheaper at Ulta for $4.99 and $3.97 at Amazon. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, Creamy Natural, 0.49 Ounce

I have a few powders I want to use up before summer arrives. I'll test this out during the summer when I really need an "oil-absorbing" powder. If this can control natural shine for up to 5 hours like the packaging claims, I'll be super duper impressed! The amount of oil produced on my face is just ridiculous during the warmer months. I'll let you know how this holds up once I start using the powder.

And that's it for my mini Rimmel haul. I'm tempted to purchase some other products from the brand to take advantage of the sale but I already have some goodies arriving, hopefully, soon. They appear to be stuck in customs so who knows how long it will take.

Who's looking forward to warmer weather?
As always, thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer
