Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick Mini Review

I was pleasantly surprised last week when I saw the Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in 03 Matte Frappuccino in my mailbox. It must have been from one of their recent giveaways. The collection has recently launched and been spotted at Walgreen's and Jordana Cosmetics for $2.99.

Product Description
Modern matte lipsticks are a winning combination of high payoff pigments and special ingredients that comfortably extend the wear. Expertly selected shades have an all-day wear without the typical dry lip finish that feathers and cracks. Talc and paraben free.
There are 18 available shades:

My Thoughts
This is the first product from Jordana I've ever tried. I've heard good things about the very affordable brand. In case you didn't know, Jordana is the parent company of Milani Cosmetics. I thought of the recently released Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipsticks when I saw the Modern Matte Lipstick. Unfortunately I only have Matte Frappuccino in my collection so I won't be able to do an overall review of the lipsticks.
I like the color that was sent to me. It's a great shade for fall and winter. One swipe is more than enough color to the lips and applies smoothly. I've read reviews where others were dissatisfied about how these applied but it may differ from shade to shade. The lipstick is housed in plastic packaging, similar to Wet n Wild lipsticks, but with a completely clear case and a longer cap.
I got about 4-5 hours of wear with this shade. They're fairly moisturizing up until the 2 hour mark although I did wear a little lip balm underneath prior to applying the lipstick. After a few hours I found myself reaching for some more lip balm.

Final Thoughts
My biggest issue with the lipstick is the scent. They do have the same vanilla scent as Milani's Moisture Matte with an added chemical fragrance to it. I dislike the smell of vanilla as it is and the combination of vanilla + chemical is enough to put my nose in cardiac arrest. You can also taste the flavor which is equally as unpleasant for my taste buds. That being said, you may not be sensitive to the smell of these and there are a huge number of shades to choose from. And if you're on a budget, the $2.99 price tag might appeal to you.

Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
