e.l.f. Studio Lip Balm SPF 15 Review

When you're in search of a bargain e.l.f. "eyes lips face" cosmetics definitely fits under that category. They are a makeup company that sells products at local drugstores, chains, and on their website. Some of their products are in the $1 range with a few lipsticks/eyeshadows coming in at only $3. You have to do a little digging but every one can find quality products within the brand.

My Thoughts
These lip balms have a strong minty fragrance. Fortunately I don't mind the scent but for those of you that don't like a minty smell, beware. They also make the lips tingly when first applied. I've read some people have had a reaction to the formula. Make sure to read the ingredient list above. I have sensitive lips and haven't had any unusual reactions.
These remind me of a tinted chap stick. The pigmentation is not like the Etude House Sugar Tint Balm which I reviewed in a previous post. Click here to read. They leave behind a subtle, natural amount of color. I wasn't expecting much pigmentation since these are a lip balm. Shades Pink and Peach can become patchy and will cling to any dry skin and lines on the lips. The wear time is not that long, about 2 hours, but they're very easy to reapply throughout the day and buildable in color. It's not the most moisturizing formula for the winter time but would work well for the spring/summer seasons. The balms leave a slightly glossy finish on the lips.

Final Thoughts
Overall Rating: 5/10
Rose is my favorite and the shade I reach for the most. On its own I would give it an 8.5/10. It's more pigmented than the other shades and applies smoothly, like a glossier lipstick. Nude barely shows any color on my lips. Peach and Pink are too high maintenance for me in that I have to exfoliate before applying. I'd rather wear a lipstick with a longer wear time in that case. I do appreciate the SPF of 15 in these lip balms and and the $1.50 price tag I was able to snag these for. If you're interested, I would recommend picking one shade first to test out the formula for yourself instead of purchasing several at one time.
