The Face Shop Lovely Me: Ex Pastel Cushion Blusher Review

I first spotted The Face Shop Blushers at Memebox and was immediately attracted to the cute packaging. I waited a little too long in purchasing them and they're now sold out on the website. Thankfully there's always Amazon to save the day with fast Prime shipping and an impressive stock of Korean beauty products.

Product Description
A cute powder blush that gives a cute and lovely doll impression. Very easy to use for beginners. Pressed porous powder prevents clumping from sweat and sebum. A must have item with a trendy container and powder puff.
Available in 5 new shades that make you look younger and cute.
01 Rose Cushion
02 Coral Cushion
03 Plum Cushion
04 Pink Cushion
05 Peach Cushion

How to use
Apply powder on the puff and gently pat onto the apple of your cheeks.

Ingredients
Talc, Mica, Isopropyl Myristate, Silica, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Diisostearyl Malate, Cl15850:1, Cl77492, Anise Extract

Price
I purchased all 5 blushes as a set from Amazon with a gift card. With Amazon Prime, the set is currently sold for $29.98. You can also find these at Urban Outfitters ($12 individually) or Tester Korea (4720 won).

Packaging
Adorable! The blush comes in a sturdy but lightweight cardboard box with pretty colors. You tug open the lid which secures rather nicely. Once opened, there is a white puff with a matching ribbon on the top resting on a plastic film insert. As adorable as the puff is, I don't like to use it to apply the blush. I've been applying it with a Real Techniques Blush Brush. I don't want to get the puff dirty and it doesn't apply the product evenly on the cheeks. There is 5 g or 0.17 oz of product in each blusher. Love, love, love the packaging!

Scent
There's a very faint fragrance to the blushers in the packaging mixed in with a cardboard scent.

Texture
The blush is tightly packed and smooth and silky in the pan. I was a little nervous about the texture when I swatched these on my arm. They were a little chalky, some more than others, particularly 02 Coral Cushion. However, the blushers apply evenly on the cheeks and glide on to the skin.

My Thoughts
In terms of pigmentation, these remind me of the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes. You can read my review here. Some are more pigmented than others but they require 4-5 layers of product. All the swatches below required 4 layers. Once the color is built up on the cheeks, the final result is a subtle luminous flush that brightens up the skin. All the shades have some fine pearl in the powder but on the skin it has a satin glowy finish. Depending on the amount of product you layer onto the cheeks, you can achieve anywhere between 3-5 hours of wear. There's no mention of long wearing or long lasting color anywhere in the product description so I didn't expect a long wear time. My favorite shades are 01 Rose and 03 Plum Cushion and my least favorite is 02 Coral Cushion.

Final Thoughts
Personally I love The Face Shop Pastel Cushion Blushers. The packaging is the cutest thing ever and what initially attracted me to the product. They give a fresh, natural and luminescent color to the cheeks and it's impossible to go overboard with the color. With that said, I have fairly light skin so all the shades show up quite well on me. If you've got a medium to dark skin tone, you might want to pass on these if you're looking for a pigmented blush. You could always use some of the shades as a highlighter but you won't be able to build up much color. Koreans like to go for a more natural and minimal makeup look which might explain why it's harder to get more color in products like blushes. Cosmetics marketed towards the Korean community tend to be lighter in terms of shade selections since they, myself included, lean towards the fairer side.
