My Lip Balm Collection

I don't know about you, but I LOVE lip balms. I dislike the feeling of dry, chapped, and flaky lips so I'm constantly applying lip products throughout the day. Aquaphor is the first product I reach for when my lips are in a bad state, especially in the winter, but I like to try other lip balms the rest of the time. I didn't realize I had so many in my collection until I started gathering them into a bin.

Korres Lip Butter ($12)
There are 5 shades and I own 2 of them, Pomegranate (sheer coral) and Quince (medium rosy pink). The other 3 are Guava, Jasmine, and Wild Rose. These are described as a rich, buttery lip balm that melts on the lips and offers a shiny, tinted finish. At $12 a piece I do find these a bit pricey but I bought them during one of the Sephora VIB sales.
They are very moisturizing and offer a nice sheer tint to the lips. They have a sweet scent, kind of like candy. I only use the lip butters at home since you have to dip your finger in the pot. Not very hygienic when you're on the go.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 Untinted ($22.50)
There are 13 shades for this lip treatment. It's a hydrating treatment that nourishes, protects, and plumps the lips. I don't have the full size product. This mini treatment was from one of Sephora's birthday gifts awhile back. I find this a decent product but not anything special. It's an overpriced and overhyped product in my opinion and I wouldn't purchase it. I do like the lemon/citrus scent and the SPF in the treatment but that's about it.

Recipe by Nature Ice Cream Swing Gloss 01 Very Lovely ($6)
I received this in the Memebox Christmas Collection box. It's infused with jojoba seed oil, argan and grape seed oil to provide a surge of hydration. I didn't think I was going to use this initially because I'm not a fan of lip gloss. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it is. It smells like strawberries and has a good taste, not that I'm trying to eat it or anything. It provides some serious hydration and leaves a pink glossy sheen to the lips. I'm not a fan of the key chain part because I wouldn't ever add the gloss to my already bulky key chain. Other than that, it's a great product.

Vivito Painting Sweet Lip Balm Orange Farm ($24)
Another Memebox discovery from the Citrus Care box. Formulated with orange peel oil, grape and blackberry extracts, and Vitamin E, this lip balm works to moisturize and revive dry, chapped lips. It's unique jelly-like balm texture is also a unique feature to take note of. This stuff smells exactly like oranges and not like the manufactured artificial fruity scents out there. I sniff the pot more than I actually use it! When I swatch the balm on my hand, it doesn't have that much of a tint. On the lips, you have to be careful because it's pretty pigmented. It's more like a stain than a balm in terms of color. In fact I had a hard time rubbing it off my lips when I built up the color. It's also moisturizing but, again, I hate that it's in a pot. Can't take it on the go with me.

Elf Lip Balm SPF 15 ($3)
There are 5 shades and I own Nude, Peach, Pink, and Rose (currently missing but probably in one of my purses). Relieve and soothe lips with a drench of moisture. This lip balm features SPF 15 to help shield lips from harmful sun rays. I reviewed these lip balms in an earlier post here. They smell like peppermint and leave behind a sheer color to the lips. The formula for Nude, Peach, and Pink don't seem to agree with me. If I don't exfoliate my lips beforehand, they cling to any lines or dry patches on my lips and are high maintenance for a lip balm. On the other hand, Rose is a different story. It's the most pigmented of the 4 and doesn't give me any issues like the other 3 shades. A plus is the SPF in the formula but I wouldn't repurchase these again.

Holika Holika I Want Chu Lip Balm 01 Strawberry Smoothie ($11)
This is from the Memebox Yogurt Cosmetics Box. This unique lip balm set comes in 2 separate products (strawberry and yogurt) which, when come in contact, make a chemical reaction with each other and transforms into a strawberry smoothie-like scent. Props to the brand for an interesting idea but it's a failed product for me. I dislike the scent which is strange because I love fruity scents. It has a strange plastic scent to it, particularly the strawberry. It's not very moisturizing either so that's not good. I also didn't get a chemical reaction or experience any transformation when I tested this out with my husband. No strawberry smoothie for us!

Kiss My Face Lip Balm Cranberry Orange SPF 15 ($3.49)
A few of these were sent to me from the company but I gave the others to my husband. This particular flavor went on sale for $1 at Kiss My Face and is currently out of stock. Naturally smooth, soothe, and protect chapped lips with organic ingredients. Works quickly to return your lips to a happy state with SPF 15 and tasty cranberry orange flavor. I like the scent of this lip balm, just like cranberry orange. I mainly use this when I want to hydrate my lips before applying other lip products. It's not slippery so it works great underneath lipsticks.

And the unopened lip balms...
Nivea A Kiss of Olive Oil & Lemon Lip Care ($2.99)
This lip care formula combines the moisturizing effects of olive oil with the power of lemons to soothe and nourish dry, rough lips. I tried the Kiss of Milk and Honey Soothing Lip Care and liked it so I thought I'd try this out.

Nivea Lip Butter Raspberry Rose Kiss ($2.99)

Enriched with shea butter & almond oil to help intensely moisturize & soothe dry lips for long-lasting care. I finished the Vanilla & Macademia Kiss one not too long ago and enjoyed it. It's not the most hydrating right before you go to bed but works well during the day to relieve dry lips. Thought I'd try a new flavor.

NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm ($2.99)
These were sent to me by NYC last year and are a limited edition product. It looks like the brand may have revamped the shades because there is a different shade range now. They used to sell the Applelicious balms at my local Duane Reade but it's no longer on the shelves. It's supposed to smell like apple and has an apple imprint on the lip balm. I might do a review on these in the near future.

The next 4 lip balms are from a previous Memebox.
Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment Honey ($5)
Enriched with honey and snail mucus extracts, grape seed oil, and shea butter, this lip treatment moisturizes, nourishes, and protects dry, chapped lips.

Eglips JolieBeBe Lip Treatment ($8)
Enriched with shea butter, refreshing lime scent, and moisture rich aloe vera complex, the treatment delivers instant hydration and nutrition to your dry, chapped lips.

Shara Shara Tok Tok Mint Lip Essence SPF 15 ($8)
This smooth lip treatment helps repair the look of wrinkles on and around lips. Boosts natural collagen production. Provides immediate and sustained antioxidant protection against the environment. Replenishes the natural moisture barrier so lips stay soft, hydrated. The refreshing mint fragrance is an added boost to your day.

Dearberry Raspberry Exfoliating Lip Care Balm ($6)
This comes in 6 flavors: 01 Raspberry, 02 Sugar Berry, 03 Blueberry, 04 Strawberry, 05 Cranberry, 06 Blackberry. Ultra conditioning lip tint balm combines satin color stain and a hint of sexy shine. Enriched with jojoba seed oil and shea butter, you'll drench lip in all day moisture for a softer, smoother, plumper pout.

NYRR Natural Pink Grapefruit Lip Balm (price not available)
For those of you who are running enthusiasts you'll know what NYRR stands for, New York Road Runners. My husband came home from the Brooklyn Half Pre Party and picked up 2 of these for me. I'm curious if they're any good since they were freebies for the runners. I'm surprised they don't have SPF since the races are outdoors.

Caudalie Lip Conditioner ($12)
I got this in a Caudalie kit from Sephora last year and I need to start using this before it expires. An antioxidant moisturizing lip conditioner that provides soft lips and lasting comfort.

And there's my lip balm collection. If you noticed I don't own any Maybelline Baby Lips or EOS lip balm. I've tried them in the past and don't find them moisturizing or worthy of all the hype they receive. I've been wanting to try Chapstick's MixStix and Hydration Lock along with the Softlips Cubes but I've put myself on a no buy with lip balms for the next 6 months or so.

Enjoy the rest of your Memorial Day weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
