Memebox Acne Care Box

Yay to Memebox for curating a box like this! I was definitely curious to see what products the company would put in with this theme.

Acne Care Box #memeacclinic Description
Sorry for the unfocused pictures! Something going on with the camera.
There is nothing worse than waking up to a giant red intruder on your face. And lets face it, no amount of concealer can hide that monstrosity. That's why we've packed this box with skincare goodies to both treat and prevent. #memeacclinic at your service!

The box comes with 5 products. Guess some of the products were too big so Gwen left a "sorry I didn't fit in" note in all the boxes!

Goodal Wash Up Deep Clean Pore Glacial Clay (mini size $6)
This clay mask is an excellent choice for tackling the ever dreaded pimple. This mask is formulated with kaolin clay which effectively cleans out pores and improves the skin's texture. Kaolin clay has all kinds of properties that make it effective in tackling acne: it's a disinfectant, soothes the skin, and removes dead skin cells.

I'm drowning in masks of all sorts right now, sheet masks, clay masks, peel off masks, you name it. So I was happy to see a mini size of this that I can actually finish up when I travel somewhere. I'll be travelling at least once this summer so a clay mask will be incredibly useful. Goodal, a combination of good + all, is a brand that focuses on natural ingredients in their skincare and is suitable for all skin types.

Goodal Pore Tightening Gel Essence ($22.50)
Many products geared at tackling acne can be harsh and drying but this essence leaves skin moisturized long after use. Its sebum controlling capabilities helps prevent breakouts by minimizing the amount of sebum production. This purifying essence reveals smooth, soft skin so you won't need to use concealer.

I need to finish up 2 more essences before I move on to this one but I'll have to check expiration dates. Don't forget to look at those dates when you purchase a product. Typically the date on a Korean product is the date it was manufactured, NOT the expiration date. Anyway, the ingredient list looks great on this and I can't wait to give it a try, especially with the sebum controlling capabilities claim. I'm already suffering from oily skin and we're only halfway through spring.

Lioele A.C. Control Mousse Cleanser Trouble Hunter ($20)
This foamer was formulated with troubled and sensitive skin in mind with triclosan, salicylic and azelaic acid which works in synergy to treat and prevent breakouts while reducing redness. Contains grapefruit peel extracts to soothe and relieve acne prone skin.
Wow, the packaging of this cleanser is bulky. As it turned out, there are two bottles in the box. I'm not quite sure why Lioele decided to package it this way. The foam cleanser is in the white bottle and you pour it into the pink bottle with the pump. I guess the white bottle is easy to take with you when travelling since the screw cap is more secure. I'm not crazy about the ingredient list, surprise, surprise. There's methylparaben and ammonium lauryl sulfate in this. Also, the triclosan in it makes me slightly nervous. There's no solid evidence but it's been known to alter hormone regulation and contribute to making bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Then again, its found in antibacterial soaps, body washes, toothpastes, and some cosmetics but do I want to put this on my reactive face? I suppose the triclosan is what helps kill the bacteria that causes acne. I have plenty of time to decide since I need to get through 4 other face washes first.

Missha Speedy Solution Anti Trouble Patch (8 pieces $5)
These patches work quickly to get rid of acne. They effectively fight inflammation and reduce the size of even the biggest pimples. They contain tea tree oil, grape seed oil, and hyaluronic acid to help soothe, calm, and clean.
I have been wanting to try these acne patches for awhile now but just never got around to ordering them. The directions say to leave them on for 8-12 hours and to refrain from applying emulsion or cream before use. Alcohol denat is the fourth ingredient on the list and methylparaben is the last. Curiosity is getting the better of me and I'm going to use this, tonight in fact. It's that time of the month and I've got a pimple or two. I wonder if this has any effect on cystic acne on the chin and jawline.

Holika Holika Skin & AC Mild Clear Toner ($25)
This cooling and refreshing toner helps keep skin clear by controlling sebum and removing dead skin cells. It's formulated with laurel leaf extract and micro apple water to improve the appearance of troubled skin.
I never used to apply toners but Memebox has turned me on to them. I have an army of toners in my stash as well but I'm not complaining. I avoid toners with alcohol for the most part and this one has alcohol listed as the second ingredient. Alcohol in oily skin gives instant gratification because it quickly de-greases the skin. But, it can also stimulate oil production in the pores and increase irritation, acne causing bacteria, and inflammation. I really want to use this, especially since I received the mirror cream from the same line a few boxes ago. Perhaps I'll cautiously use this once every few days during the summer to see how my oily skin reacts.

Final Thoughts
Loved the idea of this box and the majority of the products. I'm not sure about using the cleanser and toner yet but this is a well curated box. It completely makes up for my very disappointing Box of Fortune. This box was sold for $45 with a value of $78.50. I paid $30.25 for the box which is currently sold out. I recommend checking the site regularly since there are at least 3-4 boxes released every week.
