Memebox Tony Moly Earth Beauty Mask Bundle Set

If you read my last post, you already know I purchased quite a few things from Memebox over Labor Day weekend. This Tony Moly Earth Beauty Mask Set was one of the purchases I made during their holiday promotion. The masks are relatively new products on the market and caught my eye right away.

Earth Beauty Mud Mask Sheet
This mask derived from high quality mud extract is the ultimate solution for your troubled skin! It washes away impurities by mildly peeling dead skin off and free your skin from roughness. With its mud clay content, it also controls the skin’s production of sebum to prevent oiliness and pimples from occurring. It deeply cleanses the skin to give your skin a much beautiful texture and a fairer complexion.
The first thing I noticed upon opening the packaging was the smell. It smells exactly like a band aid which was a little off putting for me. The mask even looks like a big band aid as it hardens on the face. The upper and lower portions of the mask were easy to place on the face. There is a longer time commitment of 40 minutes with this so it probably works best to fit into your nightly routine. You'll know the mask is dry when it hardens and molds to your face. It fit relatively well on my face but there needed to be a little more room in the eye area. I also wish it covered more of the lower sides of my jaw area. I have a squarish jaw (need to use some V-line masks) and suffer from cystic acne in the jaw area.
The mask will adhere to the skin so make sure to lift gently from the ear area when you're ready to take it off. Based on the product description, I thought the mud mask would be perfect for my skin type since I have an issue with oiliness and pimples. While it made my skin soft I didn't notice a difference the next morning. I was hoping the mask would calm down some of my acne and take away the redness. Rating 3.5/5

Earth Beauty Rice Mask Sheet

Give your skin superior nourishment derived from the goodness of premium rice extract. Rich in antioxidants and known for its exceptional brightening properties, this mask sheet has organic rice as its main ingredient. This promotes brighter, smoother skin and fully nourishes it from within to put your skin at its best state. It also supplies a healthy amount of moisture to keep your skin looking glowy and healthy all day.
The Rice Mask involves some minor preparation which I'd rather not have to deal with. The upper and lower portion of the mask are in a plastic tray and are brittle in texture like rice paper. You then tear open the essence bag (there's more than enough of it) and pour it onto the mask. The essence looks and feels like milk. I waited about 2 minutes before placing the mask on which seemed more like a hydrogel mask once the essence absorbed. I had the hardest time getting the upper mask on because it was so slippery. This had the worst fit for me out of all of the masks, too much material in the nose area and not enough room in the mouth area.
The scent is nice, a fresh and floral one. Call me crazy but I also catch a whiff of peanuts, weird right? This is a very hydrating mask and not suitable for my current skin type. I probably should have poured in half of the essence rather than the whole bag. I kind of figured it would make my skin greasy. I did wipe my face off with toner after removing the mask sheet. If you need moisture in your skin, you might enjoy this one. Rating 3/5

Earth Beauty Bubble Mask Sheet
Contains a rich blend of herbal ingredients fortified with oxygen bubbles that help eliminate dead skin completely. The fine bubbles produced by this mask washes away dirt and damaged cells in order to reveal a much healthier, softer and smoother skin layer. It also leaves a moisture film to protect your skin from damage.
I love this mask! (I have a Holika Holika Soda Pore Cleansing O2 Bubble Mask which I really want to use now.) The bubbles in the mask activate when it's exposed to air. The scent on this one is pleasant, sort of smells like a cleanser to me. I had some trouble placing the mask on my face. There's no transparent film over it and it's slippery and slimy to work with. Once I got over that hurdle it was smooth sailing. The Bubble Mask fit nicely on my face and completely covered the lower sides of the jaw area. It's such an interesting sensation to feel the bubbles forming on the mask and something you need to try! The above picture on the right side are the bubbles that formed after 5 minutes. I chose to leave it on for 10 minutes and boy was it frothy at that point. Bubbles were getting into my nose and on the verge of dripping from the chin area.
After I removed the mask, I rubbed the remaining bubbles into my face including the forehead area for a few minutes. The bubbles act like a cleanser so make sure to wash your face. Immediately afterwards, my face felt incredibly refreshed and clean. The next morning I experienced less redness and some of my cystic acne had shrunk considerably. Let me reiterate, I love this mask but I'm pretty sure those with normal to dry skin may find the bubble mask too drying for their skin type. Rating 5/5

Earth Beauty Kelp Mask Sheet
Experience plumper and younger-looking skin with this Tony Moly Kelp mask. It contains 90.37% eco substances rich in marine nutrients which promote better skin elasticity. This helps the skin produce healthier skin cells and prevent formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Sea Kelp is also known for its numerous health benefits which keeps your skin’s condition healthy. It offers full moisture that lasts for 72 hours.
I look like a sea monster! This smells exactly like 미역국 which is a Korean soup made from seaweed traditionally served on birthdays and after women give birth. I used to dread birthdays growing up because I hated the soup but has grown on me over the past few decades. Anyway, I don't mind the smell although it's a little strange. I'm used to eating it and not putting it on my face. FYI kelp is a subgroup of seaweed so it's not the kind that's used in 미역국. I can see why some people might dislike the scent of the mask but I prefer it over the Mud Mask.
There is a green-yellow juice that comes out of the mask and it has a slimy texture. It's easy to pull apart and place on your face because of the protective film. I'll be honest, I didn't pay close enough attention to the adhering side of the mask to the film since I was too busy taking pictures. Once I realized this, I flipped both sides of the upper and lower portions on my face but felt no difference in the positioning of the mask. The lower portion was slipping and sliding from the chin area no matter which way I placed the mask. The mask stayed in place once the essence absorbed into the face and it almost felt as if the mask was like second skin. The directions state to let the skin absorb the contents of the Kelp Mask at night. I chose to wash my face because of my skin type. This feels cooling on the face, calmed down some acne spots the next morning, and left my face with a dewy look. This would be beneficial for me to use in the dead of winter and those with normal to dry skin will like the effect of this mask. Rating 4/5

FINAL THOUGHTS
The ingredients list on the Memebox website is not accurate. Instead, you can find the ingredients clearly written in English on the back of each mask sheet. I didn't realize the discrepancy until after I'd taken pictures which is why there are no clear shots of the complete ingredients list. Sorry about that! There is no alcohol in the masks so it's great option for those who are sensitive to the ingredient. The Earth Beauty masks are priced around $5 each which makes the bundle set a great deal. You can purchase all 4 masks for $15 and it's currently in stock at Memebox. I'm most likely going to pick up another set or two but the Bubble Mask Sheet is my absolute favorite out of the four. I normally sheet mask once or twice a week at night so these past 4 days have been out of the norm for me. Next on my list of sheet masks to purchase are the Ciracle ones so I may review them in the near future.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer
