Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Trio Review

Tarte held a friends & family event at the end of last month and I took advantage of the 30% discount on most products sold online. One of the items I grabbed was the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Trio which can be found at QVC, Tarte, and sometimes Ulta.

Product Description
A moisturizing, creamy lipstick infused with sustainably pressed Amazonian butters inspired by the whimsical colors of the Amazon. These lipsticks add a splash of rich color and creamy shine for a perfect pout. Each shade is enriched with sustainably harvested cupuacu and murumuru butters to deliver intense moisture and help restore and soothe even mature lips.

Price
I paid $23.10 for the Lipstick Trio. It's no longer sold on the Tarte or QVC website but you can purchase the butter lipsticks individually from Sephora or Tarte for $17. I'm pretty happy with the bargain price I got for these since each lipstick comes out to $7.70 in the set.

Packaging
The lipsticks are housed in a cardboard tube with 0.1 oz of product. The packaging reminds me of spring and puts a smile on my face. I appreciate the pretty and eco-friendly packaging BUT the cardboard is a little stiff and feels flimsy. You will hear a "pop" when you pull open each lipstick which I find strangely satisfying.
Scent
There is a fairly strong peppermint scent to the lipsticks which makes sense as they do contain peppermint oil. Peppermint oil can provide a temporary plumping effect to the lips. I don't mind the scent but I've run across a few people who really hate the smell and taste of peppermint in lip products.

Consistency/Texture
These are quite creamy and hydrating. There's one section of my lips that has been particularly dry and the lipsticks don't irritate or dry it out. You won't need to exfoliate or put a balm on your lips beforehand unless you're suffering from extreme dryness.

My Thoughts
Initially I thought the lipsticks were a deluxe size because they appear to be smaller. The trio is the full size and contains more product than the Tarte Glamazon Lipsticks with 0.07 oz.
These feel like something between a lipstick and a balm and glide on to the lips with a soft, buttery feel providing moisture and just enough color with a creamy finish. They have a weightless feel on the lips with sheer to medium color. The creamy texture means they aren't long wearing since the wear time was around 2 hours for me. The lipsticks transfer like crazy and, if you eat or drink, the color just disappears.

Coral Blossom is a golden, coral shade.
Creamy Rose is a soft, MLBB rose (my lips but better)
Tulip is a mauvy rose very similar to Creamy Rose

FINAL THOUGHTS
I've been testing the three shades over the course of three weeks and they have a decently good formula. The lipsticks just didn't sweep me off my feet like I thought they would. I did take into consideration the $17 price tag for ONE lipstick which seems overpriced for what you're getting. They're not that pigmented and require constant re-application. Coral Blossom is my least favorite shade as it applies slightly patchy and is not flattering on me. Sadly, I won't be reaching for this lipstick trio that often and will most likely give away two of the shades to someone who will appreciate them.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
