August 2015 Favorites

It's another month gone by...and summer is almost over! I'm looking forward to fall. If I've reviewed any of the products mentioned below, I'll have a link you can click on to read more about it. I'll be out of town for a few days so I wanted to get this favorites post up a little early. Otherwise, keep reading down below to see what I've been loving this month.

e.l.f. EXPERT LIQUID LINER in Charcoal ($2)
No more tugging or pulling on your eyelids with this easy glide Expert Liquid Liner. The smudge-proof liner is rich in color, creating a long lasting defined look. The fine tip brush creates easy and precise definition for natural or dramatic eye effects.
Available in 5 other shades: Coffee, Jet Black, Midnight, Stardust, and Copper
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Styrene/Acrylates/Ammonium Methacrylate Copolymer, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isododecane, Polysorbate 20, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Triethanolamine, PVM/MA Decadiene Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum, Tin Oxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone May Contain: Mica, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), DC Black #2 (CI 77266), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035)
Shocker of all shockers, I'm actually using a liquid liner! I've just never felt comfortable using one and always stuck with pencil liners. e.l.f. was generous enough to include this as a free gift in one of my orders. In fact, they included TWO in my order. The liner has a fine tip brush applicator which makes it really easy to draw a straight line. It has a pretty wet formula so you do have to wait a few minutes to let it set. I have minimal issues with smudging in comparison to a pencil liner. This isn't a waterproof formula but the liner has good lasting power as long as you don't rub your eyes. It's also easy to remove at the end of the day and very affordable.

MEMEBOX I'M FOUNDATION ($20) AND CONCEALER ($9)
I won't go into detail about the product descriptions since you can read my review here.
My skin, primarily the chin and jaw area, has been in a bad state. (Back in May it was completely clear and now I'm trying to figure out what's been going on with my skin.) I prefer to use BB creams or a cushion compact in the summer but they don't give me the coverage I need. So I cracked out the Memebox foundation and concealer and it's been a lifesaver. It's pretty full coverage, especially with the concealer, and surprisingly doesn't melt away in the heat if you set it with a good powder.

REAL TECHNIQUES MIRACLE COMPLEXION SPONGE ($5.99)
It's a 3-in-1 multi-functional makeup sponge by Real Techniques. The rounded side blends larger areas of the face. The precision tip covers blemishes/imperfections and the flat edge contours around the eyes and the nose, leaving you with a complexion that's smooth, enhanced and gorgeous!
I've rediscovered my love for this sponge. I've been using it with the Memebox Foundation and Concealer and cream blushes. It does sheer out the foundation a bit but you can build it up without looking cakey. The sponge tip is really good for applying concealer and the flat side works best all over the face. I clean the sponge with a gentle soap after 2-3 uses and replace every 2 months or so depending on the amount of usage.

INNISFREE OLIVE REAL OIL MIST ($10)
A 3-in-1 mist for maintaining moisture to oil balance, and setting makeup. Prevents breakouts and the micro mist particles that contain olive oil turns skin into a radiant, rich texture. Natural essential fragrance, great for enhancing the skin condition, leaves a refreshing feeling. The extra virgin olive oil components, approved by the selective standards of the Bio-Hellas, add a moisturizing and radiant effect to the skin.
Ingredients: WATER, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL, PEG/PPG-17/6 COPOLYMER, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, CITRUS UNSHIU PEEL EXTRACT, OPUNTIA COCCINELLIFERA FRUIT EXTRACT, ORCHID EXTRACT, CAMELLIA JAPONICA LEAF EXTRACT, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, BETAINE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, DISODIUM EDTA, PHENOXYETHANOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) PEEL OIL, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM (LEMON) PEEL OIL
I'm not sure about the preventing breakouts part and it's definitely not true in my case. However, it's refreshing and soothing to spritz on throughout the day. I wouldn't suggest spraying over makeup because the mist droplets aren't fine enough causing makeup to separate. I've been using benzoyl peroxide on my chin area and it can be very drying to the skin. The mist helps with the flaking I'm experiencing from the spot treatment. It also smells like lemons, yum!

MILANI COLOR STATEMENT MOISTURE MATTE LIPSTICK in Orchid ($5.99)
The matte that not only feels great but also lasts for hours. Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, this smear-proof lip soother delivers mega color that won’t budge, even after a close encounter with a cappuccino cup. In eight luxe, go-the-distance shades, from the oh-so-sweet, pale pink Matte Innocence to the fiery-red Matte Passion.
Ingredients: Isononyl Isononanoate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polyethylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Synthetic Wax, Mica, Stearalkonium Hectorite, C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Dimethicone, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethicone, Ethyl Vanillin, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Laureth-4, Dicalcium Phosphate. +/- May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 (CI 15850), Red 28 (CI 45410), Red 34 (CI 15880), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Manganese Violet (CI 77742)
There are now 16 shades in the Color Statement Matte Lipstick line. When Milani sent the lipstick to me I didn't think I'd wear it all that much. The formula is really hydrating and very comfortable on the lips but I thought the color was too bright for me. I sort of shopped my stash earlier in the month, started using it, and fell in love with the shade. It's a great summer shade and doesn't transfer on to things (or people).

PHYSICIANS FORMULA GLOW & MOOD BOOSTING BLUSH in Natural ($11.95)
Ultra-soft and blendable blushing powder features a fresh and vibrant mix of blushing tones infused with a pop of color to create a healthy glow. Multi-reflective pearls provide a soft iridescence to highlight contour and add radiance to cheeks. Infused with our Happy Boost Blend, featuring Happy Skin and Euphoryl, natural plant extracts which have been shown to promote a feeling of happiness by mimicking the effect of Endorphins and helping protect the skin from environmental stress.
Available in 3 other shades: Pink, Warm, and Rose
Ingredients: Talc. Zea Mays (Corn) Starch. Dimethicone. Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate. Zinc Stearate. Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate. Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter. Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil. Lecithin. Phytosteryl Canolate. Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil. Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract. Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract. Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter. Schinus Terebinthifolius Seed Extract. Palm Alcohol. Phenoxyethanol. Potassium Sorbate. Fragrance. May Contain: Carmine. Iron Oxides. Manganese Violet. Mica. Red 6. Red 7 Lake. Red 28 Lake. Red 30 Lake. Titanium Dioxide. Ultramarines. Yellow 5 Lake
I love the hearts on the product and just looking at it puts me in a good mood! The colors mix well and create a glowy and natural effect. It's great for an everyday look. There's a tiny brush (prefer to use my own) and mirror underneath the blush. I wouldn't purchase Natural if you're darker complexioned unless you want to use it only as a highlight. Don't forget to use coupons or take advantage of a sale at the drugstore!

CLINIQUE COLOUR SURGE EYE SHADOW TRIO (discontinued)
Includes 3 shades: Coffee Shop, Beach Plum, and Pink Slate
Another shop my stash item which I began using in an effort to hit pan. This was part of a free gift Clinique gave out if you made a purchase. Unfortunately the product has been discontinued and the only place you can find it is on eBay. The closest products Clinique has to the trios are the All About Shadow Duos and Quads. The shadow trio is great if you're a beginner because it tells you what to use as a base, contour, and definer along with mini brushes to apply the shadows. The shadows are soft, decently pigmented, and don't crease with a primer. They're easy to use and compliment my brown eyes.

TONY MOLY TANGERINE HAND CREAM (see prices below)
This luxurious cream features a custard-like formula that absorbs quickly while treating dry, rough hands and cuticles. The shea butter intensively moisturizes hands, while vitamin C, arbutin, and citrus fruit extracts brighten, lighten, and tighten the appearance of skin The lotion is aromatic with a deliciously energizing fresh tangerine scent.
Available in Apple and Peach.
Ingredients: Water, Vegetable Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Octyldodecanol, Tribehenin PEG-20, Esters, Arbutin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Dipropylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Butylene Glycol, Propylparaben, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, Propylene Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract (2%), Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Fragrance, CI 19140, CI 17200
Citrus Fruit Extract: Brightens and energizes skin.
Vitamin C: Brightens, lightens, and tightens skin’s appearance.
Arbutin: Evens skintone.
Shea Butter: Moisturizes
I've been using the hand cream on my elbows and hands 2-3 times a day and I like how it feels on the skin. The consistency is on the thicker side but it does absorb quickly. I really like the tangerine scent but you won't like this if you're not a fan of citrus scents. There's 1.06 oz of product but it seems to contain less product than most other hand creams. On a side note I cringe to know that Sephora charges $12 for this hand cream when there are cheaper options out there but, hey,  maybe you're not looking to save money. In my mind the more money you can save, the more products you can buy! Amazon has this for $7.38 and TesterKorea sells this for $4.07 with the current exchange rate.

What products have you been enjoying this month?
No promises but I'm going to try to work on having a review up between now and Wednesday while I'm out of town.

Enjoy the rest of your week and thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
