June Mishibox

Mishi is the beauty bunny and mascot for Mishibox!
There's a new monthly subscription box, Mishibox, on the block that contains Korean beauty products.  The June box is the very first box the company released. Their mission is to help customers explore the world of K-beauty and discover products in a convenient, effortless, and affordable way. Currently Mishibox ships only within the U.S. and its territories but they're hoping to expand and offer shipping to other countries. You can sign up for the international wait list here.

Each box contains a combination of 4-6 deluxe sized samples and full size products from a wide range of Korean brands. A monthly subscription costs $18.95 with free shipping. The price includes sales tax as well. If you're really committed, you can also sign up for an annual subscription for $227.40.
Refer to the info card for product descriptions.
Banila Co. Clean It Zero ($19)
I've heard this cleansing oil balm discussed in K-beauty forums but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I'm pretty loyal to cleansing oils but I'm willing to give the cleansing balm a shot. It's the perfect size to travel with and I'm going out of town in less than two weeks. The balm is clear and has a very light, slightly fruity scent. I'll talk about this some more when I've had a chance to test it out.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack ($3)
This is another product that has received some chatter from the beauty community but I did not like the brand's Snail Bee Steam Cream. I'm hoping this sheet mask doesn't leave my face sticky like the cream did. I haven't been using sheet masks because extra hydration is the last thing I need on my face right now. My face has been extra oily and I'm starting to break out in places where it's especially oily. If there's too much essence in the mask it's usually too thick for my skin type in the warmer months and I've been gravitating towards clay masks.

Benton Honest Cleansing Foam ($12)
Ingredients: Water, Potassium Stearate, Glycerin, Potassium Myristate, Potassium Laurate, Butylene Glycol, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Sobitan Olivate, Polyquaternium-10, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinensis Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalis Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadenis Leaf Extract, Propandiol, Hydrolyzed Pea Protein, Phytosterol, Lecithin, Olea Europaea(Olive) Fruit Oil, Squalane, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide-3, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extact, Usnea Berbata (Lichen) Extract
For those of you who are interested in pH levels, this cleansing foam is an 8. If you have oily or non-sensitive skin, it probably doesn't matter if the pH level is high. One good indicator is if your face feels dry and tight after washing, then the pH level of the product you are using is too high for your skin type and not suitable for you. Dry skin readers out there might want to avoid this cleansing foam. If it helps with oil production I'm more than happy to lather away with this.

Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel ($12)
Apparently this aloe gel was in a recent Memebox. Luckily I didn't order that box so this is the first time I've seen/owned it. I hate heat and the sun and so does my skin. I usually have a case of heat rash when I'm in the sun or start sweating. This aloe gel sounds cooling and refreshing for those days I can't avoid going outside. I'll most likely use this for my body although I may try it on my face if it's not too heavy. This seems to be a versatile product since you can use it as a hair essence/hair treatment, a moisture soothing pack, an eye patch by soaking the gel in a cotton pad, and an after shave.

Holika Holika Jewel Light Waterproof Eyeliner ($8)
I received the shade Lapis Lazuli which is described as a deep navy color with blue pearls. It looks like there are plenty of shades available if you like this product. I just got an indigo waterproof liner in my Birchbox so I may pass this one off to someone. I'm drowning in liners and it's not something I use everyday. While I appreciate a creamy, waterproof liner they aren't a must have makeup product for me.

Skylake Oriental Herb Cool Shampoo ($5-$36 depending on size)
I'm not that picky about shampoo so I'll use whatever I have. The only Korean hair brands I've tried are Daeng Gi Meo Ri, SPA Vita, and Mise En Scene. This smells herbal with a hint of eucalyptus or mint. It smells much better than the Daeng Gi Meo Ri hair products I've tried. I don't suffer from dandruff or itching but I am experiencing more hair fall out than usual after I shampoo.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I like this first box and it's well curated. I know the response from some bloggers in the Memebox community were a little lackluster about the box because they'd already heard about or received these products in previous Memeboxes. The box has a good variety of items with 4 skincare products, 1 makeup product, and 1 hair product. If I could make any tweaks I'd like to see one more makeup product in the box and less cleansing items. The 3 full sized products have a value of $23 which has already paid for the box itself. I'm curious what other brands Mishibox will include in their boxes. If you're new to K-beauty these are all great brands to start out with but it would be really nice to see lesser known brands that are difficult to find. I'd like to see less Tony Moly, Innisfree, Etude House, Skinfood products, ect because they're relatively easy to get your hands on these days. Anyway, I'm pleased with what I've seen so far and already looking forward to the July box.

Oh and if you have any questions or issues Mishibox is very quick to respond which is a big plus in my book!

As always, thanks for stopping by!
Jennifer
