This or That: Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Tea Tree Mask vs. Etude House I Need You Tea Tree Mask

Hi everyone! If you have been keeping up with my posts, you will already know that I did some shopping at Innisfree and Etude House recently. Sheet masks have been useful in my daily beauty routine since it's been cold and dry here in New York City. After I wash my face and apply toner, I put the sheet mask on my face.

I decided to grab a bunch of sheet masks and decided to do a comparison between Innisfree's It's Real Squeeze Tea Tree mask and Etude House's I Need You Tea Tree Mask. They are both owned by the same company, AmorePacific, so the ingredient list in the masks are quite similar. There is alcohol listed in both masks, which I've discovered is a common ingredient in Korean sheet masks. Of the two, Innisfree is known as a natural brand whose ingredients tend to come from Jeju Island. Let's look at each mask a little more in depth.

It's Real Squeeze Tea Tree Mask ($1.20)
Product description
Real source mask with tea tree ingredients to clear the skin

  1. Tea tree is a traditionally well-known herb for skin care.
  2. Jeju green complex that consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camelia leaves, and orchid keep your skin healthy.
  3. This triple layer sheet has a long-lasting moisturizing effect so that the essence can be absorbed into your skin for nourishment.

I found this mask rather messy and had trouble putting it on my face. It had so much essence on it which made it difficult to peel open and the sheet was much thinner than I expected. Be careful when opening the mask because I somehow managed to rip the area around my chin. As far as the scent, the mask smelled like tea tree. It didn't bother me even though it was a little strong.

Once I applied this on my face, everything was fine. The mask fit great and covered my face. (Sometimes sheet masks are too big for my face and I don't consider myself to have a small face.) I've read complaints about other people finding the residue sticky but I actually didn't mind this. I imagine if you have oilier skin this might be an issue but I found the essence to be moisturizing and soothing for my skin. There was still plenty of essence when I took off the mask 20 minutes later. I rubbed the remainder of it on my neck and hands.

Afterwards I thought some of my hormonal acne looked a little less red and calmer. Make sure you don't use this right before you go to bed. You need to allow a little time to have the essence absorb into your skin even after you take the mask off. Usually, I continue on with the rest of my nightly routine with serum and a moisturizer.

Etude House I Need You Tea Tree Mask ($0.95)
Product description: This mask sheet contains extract from the clean herb, tea tree extract (melaluca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf extract), with soothing properties on skin to provide a fresh, clean complexion.

Not that packaging really matters when it comes to product performance but I always like how cutely Etude House packages their products. Even though the ingredients are fairly similar to the Innisfree one I thought this mask had a stronger smell, less tea tree and more fragrance. It wasn't overwhelming but it was noticeable. The fit of the mask was a little tighter, especially around the eye area. There was plenty of essence on it but not to the point where it got messy. For some reason, the Etude House mask seemed to have more of a cooling sensation on my face than the Innisfree. I thoroughly enjoyed my 20 minutes with the mask and watched part of a Koran drama during that time.

This mask definitely had a soothing effect on my face and the next day my acne had shrunk significantly. My face did feel a little sticky initially but I let the essence sink in for 5 more minutes after I took off the mask. As with the previous night, I continued on with the rest of my skincare routine.

The Winner
The masks are very similar and it boils down to personal preference. I choose ETUDE HOUSE as the winner. I liked that the mask wasn't messy, it didn't slide around on my face, there was the perfect amount of essence on it, and it is cheaper than the Innisfree mask.
So there you have it, let me know which of two you prefer down below.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!
Jennifer
