Price: I purchased this sheet mask and two other varieties, Grape and Peach, from Tester Korea for 1500 won. (the current exchange rate at the time of this post is 1,180.31 won = $1) The Re:cipe masks are also sold in a set of 5 for $15 at Kcutie for $15.
My Skin Type: I've got oily, acne prone skin which can be sensitive at times. In my battle with hormonal cystic acne I'm often left with red, angry looking post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation regardless of whether I pick at the pimple or not. I tend to look for sheet masks that calm, soothe, and brighten my skin.
As expected the Jeju Tangerine mask has a fruity scent. I find it light and refreshing with a similar scent as the Innisfree It's Real Squeeze masks that are fruit based.
Mask is fully saturated with essence. |
Not much left over essence unless you scrape it out of the pouch. |
I normally keep a sheet mask on for the maximum amount of the recommended time, 20 minutes in this case. I managed to leave it on for 14 minutes. Yes, I was literally counting down the minutes before removing it. A few minutes into sheet masking I noticed the lower half of my face feeling itchy. 6 minutes in, the area around my eyes felt itchy. (My forehead and upper cheek area were completely fine.) I rarely have this kind of reaction with sheet masks but my skin was obviously sensitive to an ingredient(s) in the mask. I'm surprised I managed to keep it on for as long as I did but I was repeating "beauty is pain" in my head.
Once I removed the mask, the itchiness subsided and my skin was fine.
As far as the claims:
I did feel like this mask brightened my overall complexion, particularly the next morning.
Did not notice any evening out of my skin tone.
Did not notice lightening of my dark spots.
The last two claims are a little far fetched in my opinion depending on the severity of one's skin situation. In my case, a one time sheet mask use isn't going to cut it for me and I had no expectations for those claims. I do like the results of this mask in terms of brightening BUT I did not like the itchiness I experienced. I'll probably try out the Peach one and see how that goes before I purchase more of the Slowganic masks.
I'd recommend the Re:cipe Slowganic Jeju Tangerine mask IF you aren't sensitive to ingredients in it. The price is very affordable so it wouldn't hurt to try the mask once to see how your skin reacts.
